Tim Besley is Kuwait Professor of Economics and Political Science at the London School of Economics and a former External Member of the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee. He was educated at Oxford University where he was a Prize Fellow of All Souls College. He taught subsequently at Princeton before joining the LSE in 1995. He was the 2005 winner of the Yrjo Jahnsson award and is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Econometric Society. He has published on a wide variety of economic policy issues.
